Regeneration at Penn Station, NYC, September 6 2024-October 14 2025.

I am inviting viewers to step out of their experience of hectic intercity transport to have a pause for a contemplation of natural elements that invoke resilience and regeneration. Some, such as the Rose of Jericho and welwitschia, have the ability to live for long periods and regenerate themselves after periods of dormancy. Many of the flora and fauna depicted are common plants, such as dandelions and irises  that someone might encounter while walking around the city. Outdoors, they provide a respite from our daily rhythm rushing from one place to the next, punctuating the experience of urban stress with a beauty that exists beyond clock time.  The elements are rendered in a graphic style that evokes pop cultural forms such as comics and science fiction that invite viewers to contemplate realms beyond our present moment. -Chitra Ganesh
